Annual Montpelier Festival of Herbs, Tea, and the Arts

Welcome spring and delight in the sights and sounds of nature, art, and history at this fun festival for the entire family, hosted by Montpelier House Museum and Montpelier Arts Center. Visit with vendors on the grounds, relax to live music in the Music Tent, attend a talk on gardening, tour the house museum, and indulge in a Picnic Tea Box with finger sandwiches, pastries and a scone inside (available to order starting April 1). At the Arts Center, you can see exhibits, visit artists’ studios, watch demos, and attend a live performance.

Starting April 1st through April 25th, 2024, picnic Tea Boxes with finger sandwiches, a scone, pastries, and tea will be available for purchase.

10:20 – 11:15 am | Meade Senior High School Steel Drum Band
“The Meade Senior High School Steel Drum Band consists of students from all grade levels who genuinely love music! Currently, every member is new to the steel pans but has put in a great deal of energy to play and sound great! 11:30 am – 12:10 PM | Jasmina Rae and Friends
Jasmina Rae, founder of Sensual Soul Belly Dance, teaches belly dance classes at Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mt. Rainier, MD. She has been an ardent belly dancer for over 17 years. Now in her 70s, she is amazingly vibrant, and it is evident that belly dancing keeps her physically and mentally healthy.

1 pm – 2 pm | Soprano Olivia Kellett
Olivia Kellett is an operatic soprano with a passion for creating classical music experiences that can be enjoyed by everybody. She has portrayed roles such as Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, and Erste Dame in The Magic Flute. Additionally, she has had the pleasure of serving as soprano soloist in a variety of choral engagements, such as Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah and Rutter’s Requiem. One of her most exciting choir experiences was performing in Disneyland’s Candlelight with Lin-Manuel Miranda.

We are a local band based out of Laurel and play indie, rock, pop, and anything in between. We love to perform for crowds and engage them for electrifying performances! Members include Jadyen Brown, Manan Zaveri, Ahmad Farhan, Jacob Paul and Jack Wethington

Janna Parker, Executive Director of PGChangeMakers will speak on urban farming, food banks, and incorporating re-entry citizens into this work.
1:15-1:45 PM | Donna Koczaja
Donna Koczaja, Registered Clinical Herbalist and owner of Green Haven Living, LLC, gives a talk called “Herbal Roots,” on how some medicinal herbs harness their strength in their roots.
2:15-2:45 PM | Linda Jones
Linda Jones of Elements of Nature (a festival vendor!) gives a talk called “Bold and Beautiful Basil-Not Just for Pesto Anymore,” on a variety of food and beverage recipes that incorporate basil.
