The Prince George’s County Room is a large dance studio equipped with a sprung floor, mirrors, portable barres, and upright piano. It is available to artists and organizations to rent, and is available for free for rehearsals by non-profit arts organizations based in Prince George’s County. The studio is suitable for dance and drama rehearsals, auditions, and workshops.

Community use is limited to performing arts activities, and is permitted between Labor Day and Memorial Day, contingent upon availability.

The Community Room is not available during University of Maryland holidays, and it is not available during University of Maryland football game days due to parking restrictions.

Rules for Use

  • Street shoes may not be worn in the County Room. Dance shoes, socks, or bare feet are permitted.
  • Storage cubbies for shoes are available.
  • Only chairs and tables provided by M-NCPPC may be used in the County Room. Do not bring chairs from outside the room due to potential damage to the dance floor.
  • Do not mark the floor or affix tape to the floor other than approved marley dance floor tape.
  • Food and drink, other than water, is not allowed in the County Room.
  • Free parking is available in Lot 1 on the University of Maryland campus after 4:30 pm.

Rentals and Community Use

  • The minimum time period for rentals is two (2) hours.
  • All (paid) rental requests require completion of an application and require a $100 deposit to hold the date(s), which will also be held as a damage deposit and is not part of the rental fee. The deposit will not be returned to the renter if the booking is cancelled.
  • Reservations cannot be made more than 4 months prior to the rental start date. Based on the room’s availability and rental needs, a contract will be issued after the deposit is received.
  • Full payment will be due 15 days in advance of the event.

Fee Waiver For Prince George’s County Art Non-Profits

Non-profit organizations based in Prince George’s County that have a mission focused on the arts may use the Prince George’s County Room on a fee-waiver basis for rehearsals only.

Organizations must have a current 501c3 status in good standing and be incorporated in Prince George’s County. The fee waiver may not be used for any activities for which the renting organization receives payment, including but not limited to ticket sales, admissions, and class or registration fees.

Rental Rates for Rehearsals

Rehearsal rates generally apply to activities that are not open to or presented to the public, and do not involve any fees for attendance or participation.

Rental rates for classes and performances generally apply to any teaching activity, activities that are open to the public, or that involve direct or indirect payment to participate or attend.

Parking for the Prince George’s County Room is managed by the University of Maryland. Visitors should only park in permitted areas and are subject to rules and enforcement by the University of Maryland. The M-NCPPC will not be liable for any loss, damage, or fees incurred while parking on the University of Maryland Campus, and will not serve as a liaison between rental applicants and the university.
