M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County and RCX Sports Announce Collaboration Offering Commanders Flag Football League for Local Youth

Riverdale, Md – Today the M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County and Washington Commanders announced their collaboration to bring NFL FLAG Football powered by RCX Sports to local youth. The co-ed league kicks off with a skills clinic at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex in Landover on Saturday, August 19, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The event will begin with remarks from Department, NCAA Eligibility Center, RCX Sports, and appearances from the DC Divas, professional women’s football team. Registered youth will participate in warm-ups, stretching, drills, and scrimmage games throughout the morning.

The Flag Football League will provide a fun and enriching experience for young Commanders fans ranging from pre-k through 8th grade, focused on building self-esteem, teamwork, and commitment. The seasonal program is designed for children of all ability levels, including those with years of flag football experience and those just beginning their journey.

“We are so excited to expand our youth sports offerings focused on teaching and building confidence in the next generation of athletes in our community,” said Bill Tyler, Director of the M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County. “The Commanders Flag Football League will bring newfound fun and energy to our residents that extend beyond FedEx Field. The establishment of this league is yet another way for us to make a positive impact in the lives of our youth.”

“This new flag football league in partnership with The Department of Parks and Rec in Prince George’s County reflects our commitment to communities across our region. The growth of flag football is exciting, and we hope this league will inspire more youth to be active participants in all sports, not just spectators,” said Valerie Biberaj, VP, Community Relations & Executive Director, Washington Commanders Charitable Foundation. “ We are truly proud of this collaboration and excited to see it serve area youth in Prince George’s County.”

“As we continue to bring NFL FLAG to new communities around the country, it’s encouraging to witness how the sport is positively impacting the lives of young athletes in these communities. I’m excited to see the involvement from our league partners, like the Washington Commanders, an organization fully invested in youth flag football in the DMV area,” said RCX Sports CEO Izell Reese. “We strive to increase accessibility and inclusivity in youth sports, so I’m grateful to the Commanders for continuing to be strong champions of flag football at all age levels.”
