Overview

The North College Park Community Center is a proposed new recreational facility planned for 9801 Rhode Island Avenue in College Park, Maryland. The project responds to findings from the North College Park Feasibility Study, which identified the need for expanded recreation space, wellness programming, and flexible gathering areas to serve residents of all ages. The project aims to expand access to recreational opportunities, support multi-generational programming, improve neighborhood connectivity, and deliver a sustainable, accessible community facility that reflects local priorities.

HIGHLIGHTS

The North College Park Community Center project continues to move forward as we advance through the procurement phase. Over the past several months, the project team has been focused on finalizing the Request for Proposals (RFP), coordinating internal reviews, and preparing for Design-Builder selection.

We are currently in the Procurement – Bidding/Award phase, which includes the pre-bid meeting, proposal evaluations, and contract award. We anticipate this phase will wrap up in May 2026. Once a Design-Build team is selected, the project will transition into the Design phase, where building layout and site design will be refined with community input on proposed concepts. Project updates and community engagement information will be shared on this page as the project progresses. Currently, final project completion is anticipated for mid-fall 2028.

We appreciate the community’s continued interest and support, and look forward to delivering a neighborhood hub that reflects the current needs of the community and can be adapted over time.
