Learn the history via exciting narration and hear the beautiful
music of oft-forgotten Black soprano Camilla Williams who
was an American operatic soprano. Williams performed
nationally and internationally and was the first African
American to receive a regular contract with a major American
opera company, the New York City Opera, winning honors in
vocal competitions and the Marian Anderson Fellowship in
1943-44. Produced by the Coalition for African Americans in
the Performing Arts (CAAPA) and curated by Professor Nevilla
Ottley, this concert features two sopranos and a pianist.
