This discussion explores African Americans’ lived experiences
with a focus on Black classical music, past, present, and
future. Led by three leading experts including a musician,
historian, and social scientist, topics will include “Was
Beethoven Black?,” “How Chevalier Influenced Mozart,”
“Black Musicians in the Revolutionary War,” and more.
Produced by the Coalition for African Americans in the
Performing Arts (CAAPA), the panel is part of a year-long
series celebration focused on the arts.
