Garnet Hathaway to Participate in KABOOM! Playground Design Day at Bladensburg Community Center on July 21

Bladensburg, MD – Washington Capitals player Garnet Hathaway will visit the Bladensburg Community Center on Wednesday, July 21, at 1:30 p.m. to participate in a playground design session with children from the surrounding community.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, the charitable arm of the Washington Capitals, Washington Mystics and Washington Wizards, is partnering with KABOOM! and the M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County to fund a new playground to be built at Bladensburg Community Center in September.

Hathaway and the children will draw their dream playgrounds during Design Day. Elements from the drawings will be incorporated into the final design for the new community playground, which will help address a lack of access to quality playspaces in the community.

The playground will be the seventh built with involvement by Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation and its teams.

Media interested in attending are required to contact Megan Eichenberg in the Capitals media relations department to ensure access: meichenberg@washcaps.com.

KABOOM!

KABOOM! is the national nonprofit that works to achieve playspace equity. Kids who don’t have access to play miss out on childhood and are denied critical opportunities to build physical, social and emotional health. And all too often, it more deeply affects communities of color. So we amplify the power of communities to build inspiring playspaces that spark unlimited opportunities for every kid, everywhere. KABOOM! has teamed up with partners to build or improve 17,000+ playspaces, engage more than 1.5 million community members and bring joy to more than 11 million kids. To learn about our goal to end playspace inequity for good, visit kaboom.org and join the conversation at twitter.com/kaboom, facebook.com/kaboom, and instagram.com/kaboom.
