    XTREME TEENS ARTS OPPORTUNITIES

    Café Groove
    Café Groove takes place on the first Friday of every month, starting at 8 pm and end at 11 pm, and include an open mic segment, and refreshments. Tickets are $3 each and can be purchased on line through SMARTlink. A limited number will be available at the door. For information call 301-454-1459, TTY 301-454-1472.

    CULTURAL ARTS FACILITIES

    arts Harmony Hall Regional Center
    Arts/Harmony Hall Regional Center in Fort Washington provides fine arts programs including a full curriculum of classes in visual arts, theatre and dance. In addition, the Center's John Addison Concert Hall and galleries offer music, dance, dramatic programs and exhibitions. See Harmony Hall's Calendar of Events for more information.

    Montpelier Arts Center
    Montpelier Arts Center in Laurel is a multi-faceted, community-oriented arts facility on the grounds of the Montpelier Mansion. The Center offers a full curriculum of visual arts classes and workshops. Teens are welcome to take adult courses if they are 16 or older. There is a cartooning course just for teens 12-16 as well as courses in ceramics, painting, drawing and comic books for 12-14 year olds. The three galleries at Montpelier present changing exhibitions in a wide variety of media and styles. The Center also hosts community events, jazz, folk, and classical concerts, and has exhibition receptions open to the public. Resident artists maintain open studio hours and teens interested in the arts are encouraged to come by and meet the artists. The Center is open from 10 am-5 pm, seven days a week.     Publick Playhouse for the Performing Arts
    The Publick Playhouse is committed to making the arts a vital element of the community. Cultural diversity is a hallmark of the theater that attracts audiences from throughout the greater Washington metropolitan area for music and modern dance, musical theater, historic drama, and monthly Saturday Morning at the Movies - Vaudeville Style. The Playhouse presents national and international touring acts and professional touring children's theatre to introduce school groups to the performing arts. In recent years, several prominent international tours have made the Publick Playhouse their only mid-Atlantic performance stop. The theatre is also a popular venue for area performing arts groups and is available as a rental facility to community organizations. Known to be one of the area's most inviting and best acoustical performance spaces, the Playhouse Playhouse is conveniently located less than half a mile off the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, and just 10 minutes from Capitol Hill.     University of Maryland - Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center
    The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center's Prince George's County Room is the site of dance, yoga and visual arts classes that are created especially for young adults and teens. Rt 193 and Stadium Drive, University of Maryland College Park, 20742. Call 301-454-1450 for more information.
