Child Care Programs

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission sponsors several programs in Prince George's County to meet the childcare needs of parents. These programs are licensed by and operate under the guidelines of the Maryland State Department of Education, Office of Child Care. These affordable programs are held at locations throughout Prince George's County and are designed to provide quality care by a caring and qualified staff in a safe, nurturing environment.

Pre-School Programs
Half-day pre-school programs are available at sites throughout Prince George's County for children ages 3-5 (ages vary by site). Children will participate in age appropriate activities and must be toilet trained. A scheduled payment plan is available but requires on-site registration. Internet and telephone registration are available for this program with payment due in full. Registration for the fall semester begins Saturday, June 2, 2007. Information about the spring semester will be available late November.

Morning Care Program
This licensed childcare program operates at select sites for the school year for children ages 5-12 (as of August 31, 2007). Morning Care operates in conjunction with the Prince George's County Public Schools' calendar; both begin in August and end in June. When Prince George's County Public Schools are closed for full days, Morning Care is also closed. For more information contact the center you will be attending. This program is open to Prince George's County residents only. The fee of $650 may be paid in 10 monthly installments of $65, plus a $10 mandatory registration fee. On-site registration is required to set up a scheduled payment plan. Internet and telephone registration are available for this program with payment due in full. Completed health forms are mandatory for participation in this program. Registration begins June 2.

Kids' Care After-School Programs
Kids' Care After-School Programs are licensed, child-care programs held at M-NCPPC sites throughout Prince George's County. These programs provide after-school structured recreation activities in the areas of sports, arts and crafts, reading, storytelling, music, film, drama, science, nature, and special events, as well as free, unstructured time for recreational pursuits. Prince George's county residents enrolled in kindergarten through grade 6 who are between the ages of 5 and 12 (must be age 5 by August 31, 2007) are eligible to enroll in Kids' Care After-School Programs.

Kids' Care After-School Programs operate in conjunction with the Prince George's County Public Schools' calendar; both begin in August and end in June. When Prince George's County Public Schools are closed for full days, Kids' Care is also closed. For more information contact the center you will be attending. This program is open to Prince George's County residents only. The fee of $1,550 may be paid in 10 monthly installments of $155, plus a $25 mandatory registration fee. On-site registration is required to set up a scheduled payment plan. Internet and telephone registration are available for this program with payment due in full. Completed health forms are mandatory for participation in this program. Registration begins June 2.

Therapeutic Recreation Kids' Care After-School Programs
Therapeutic Recreation Kids' Care After-School Programs are also offered by M-NCPPC at sites throughout the county. They serve the needs of individuals with disabilities who are between the ages of 5 and 20. These specialized programs feature small groups sizes, high staff/participant ratios, adapted equipment and more.

Therapeutic Recreation Kids' Care After-School Programs operate in conjunction with the Prince George's County Public Schools' calendar; both begin in August and end in June. When Prince George's County Public Schools are closed for full days, Therapeutic Recreation Kids' Care After-School Programs are also closed. For more information contact the center you will be attending. This program is open to Prince George's County residents only. The fee of $1,550 may be paid in 10 monthly installments of $155, plus a $25 mandatory registration fee. On-site registration is available at the Special Programs Division Office, 6611 Kenilworth Avenue, Riverdale beginning Monday, June 4. A scheduled payment plan is available with on-site registration. Internet and telephone registration are available for this program with payment due in full. Completed health forms are mandatory for participation in this program. Registration begins June 2.

The Department of Parks and Recreation encourages and supports the full participation of individuals with disabilities. The facilities and services of M-NCPPC are available to all without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, or ability to pay.
