2008 Summer Playgrounds & Summer Xtreme Teen Centers


Every year, hundreds of children and teens meet at Summer Playgrounds or Summer Xtreme Teens Centers. Open to residents of Prince George's County only, this M-NCPPC supervised program is available at more than 100 participating elementary schools and M-NCPPC facilities throughout Prince George's County. This drop-in program operates from Monday, June 23 through Friday, August 1. Before and After Care options are not available at these sites; playgrounds and teen centers have fewer staff and more children than do the summer day camps. Registered children and teens are free to come and go during the day, and to attend some days but not others.

Age Requirements, Hours, & Lunches
  • Children & Youth — Playgrounds are for children ages 6-12 and operate Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 3 pm. Participants attending a playground site that does not provide refrigeration should bring a non-perishable lunch. Sites subject to change based on location availability and sufficient registration. Additional nominal fees will be charged for off-site transportation and special events.

  • Summer Xtreme Teens — Teen centers are for ages 13-17 and operate Mondays through Fridays. Participants attending a teen center site that does not provide refrigeration should bring a non-perishable lunch. Sites subject to change based on location availability and sufficient registration. Additional nominal fees will be charged for off-site transportation and special events.
