Dueling Creek Natural Area is located in Colmar Manor Community Park, which is part of the Anacostia River Stream Valley Park. Dueling Creek was the site of more than 50 duels fought during the first half of the 19th century. Here, on what became known as "The Dark and Bloody Grounds," gentlemen of Washington settled their personal and political differences. The property now offers a wide variety of habitats including wetland ponds, field, and forested lowlands. This 60-acre site is home to beavers, bluebirds, ducks, herons, and turtles.
