2010 EVENT CALENDAR
Saturday, Setpember 5, 8 am-5 pm
1814 British Invasion of Prince George's County Bus Tour
War of 1812 scholar Dr. Ralph Eshelman will be our ride-along guide as we travel via bus and boat (weather permitting) along the routes the British Army marched through the County in August of 1814. Bus departs from and returns to Darnall’s Chance.

The Bentley Family of Upper Marlborough
Join us for a tour that focuses on African American women who lived at Darnall’s Chance in the 18th century with a special focus on the Bentley Family.

Girl Scout: Folk Arts Badge Program
Bring your Junior Girl Scout troop to Darnall’s Chance House Museum to study portraits, photographs, and antiques. Scouts will fulfill all requirements for their Folk Arts Badge and complete two fun crafts. Groups should consist of 8-16 scouts.

Mayhem in Marlborough Ghost Walk
Take a spooky tour of historic Upper Marlboro. Meet colonial spirits and mischief-makers who once lived and worked in the county seat. Guided tours last one hour and begin at 7 pm and run continuously every 20 minutes until 9 pm. Program is not for children under the age of 6.

11th Annual Gingerbread House Contest and Show
This show will delight children of all ages as they marvel at the creativity and talent of local bakers. Visitors have the opportunity to vote for their favorite adult and child entries in the Viewer’s Choice Award competition.

Hansel & Gretel Tea Party
Visit Darnall’s Chance when it is decorated like a gingerbread house, listen to the story of Hansel and Gretel and enjoy tea and dessert. Ages 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Pirate for a Day
Calling all landlubbers! Have you ever dreamed of life on the high seas, manning the sails and hunting for treasure? Darnall's Chance House Museum is looking for boys and girls ages 8-12 who want to learn more about life aboard a pirate ship. As a pirate-in- training, you will learn how to signal ships, navigate with a compass, design your very own pirate flag, hunt for gold and so much more!

Fee: $20 per child (fee includes a pirate hat, treasure chest and pirate license)
Mrs. Sowers' Tea Lessons for Young Ladies
Mrs. Sowers cordially invites young ladies ages 8-12 years old to Darnall's Chance House Museum for 18th century tea lessons and instruction. After their lessons, young ladies will demonstrate what they learned by partaking in their own tea party. Following tea, instruction will be given in the finer points of 18th century dance.
