Formula 2040Formula 2040—Functional Master Plan for Parks, Recreation and Open Space is the M-NCPPC Department of Parks and Recreation initiative to incorporate community input and data gathered through the 2010 & Beyond needs assessment into recommendations to guide the future of parks, recreation and open space in Prince George’s County for the next 30 years. Formula 2040: Functional Master Plan for Parks, Recreation and Open Space was authorized by the Prince George’s Planning Board October 6, 2011 and the Prince George’s County Council November 1, 2011. This mandate gives M-NCPPC Department of Parks and Recreation eight (8) months to prepare a preliminary plan and for up to ten (10) additional months of review and comment. On the current schedule, copies of the draft plan will be distributed to all municipalities and will be available at public libraries and at M-NCPPC community centers the first week of Frebruary 2013. A joint public hearing with the County Council and Planning Board is planned for April, 2013. It is anticipated that the final plan will be adopted by the County Council early in 2014.
The Function Master Plan development process began in November 2011 by resolution of the Prince George’s County Council. The draft “preliminary” Functional Master Plan was approved for printing and distribution in January 2012 by the Prince George’s County Planning Board. The Preliminary Functional Master Plan is now available for review and comment. Paper copies of the Plan will be available for review the first week of February at all County Libraries and M-NCPPC Community Centers. View the Plan as a flip-book or download in PDF format.
