Birds I View Support Means Arts in Education

The proceeds from the birds i view program will become part of Arts in Education initiatives designated a priority by the Prince George's Arts Council. "With a number of young artists and schools actually creating these wonderful birds, residents and visitors are able to better share and appreciate the talent in this county," said Eileen Cave, director of the local arts advocacy group. "This program provides an excellent opportunity to assist our young people as they further develop their creative talents."

The Prince George's Arts Council is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1981 to promote and fund the arts in the county. PGAC supports, nurtures, and encourages the county arts community and creates partnerships between business, education, government, and the arts. In recognition of the importance of the arts to a vital and healthy community, the mission of the council is to promote artistic excellence and expand arts opportunities for all residents through an energetic program including advocacy, education, and financial support.

The council grants funds to county artists and organizations such as schools, libraries, theater groups, music ensembles, galleries, dance troupes, college, civic groups and churches. From a base of more than 200 artist residents and growing, these grants support over 800 performances and exhibitions annually and reach county audiences totaling more than 360,000 people. Staff assists grantees, researches funding sources, and promotes county artists and organizations through trade shows and fairs, publications and via the Internet. Technical and management assistance also is provided to artists of all ages and stages.
