Birds Help Market Prince George's County Arts, Cultural, and Natural Resources

The Arts and Cultural Heritage Division of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission's Department of Parks and Recreation provides high quality visual and performing arts programs and services to the general public, artists, and arts organizations to improve the quality of life, promote tourism, and expand the knowledge of Prince George's County's rich and diverse cultural history. M-NCPPC provides support services and programs to community arts organizations, individual artists, and performers.

"We're very excited about the impact of this special birds i view project, because it not only draws attention to our wonderful arts scene, but also underscores the rich natural resources we have," said Director of Parks and Recreation Marye Wells-Harley. "With more than 23,000 acres of park land in the county, the treasured bluebird finds a home among our rapidly growing population. And, of course, we're always excited to share in marketing our great county to residents and visitors alike."

M-NCPPC provides significant leadership and support for the following arts programs: Arts Alive!; Black History Month Celebration activities; the Bluebird Blues Festival (co-sponsored with Prince George's Community College); Asian Pacific American Heritage festival; Choreographers' Showcase; arts camps and classes; Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at Maryland; the Gateway Arts & Entertainment District; summer teen theater companies; and the Prince George's County Fair.

M-NCPPC owns and operates three arts facilities: The Prince George's Publick Playhouse for the Performing Arts in Cheverly, Montpelier Arts Center in Laurel, and Harmony Hall Regional Center/Arts in Fort Washington.
