Sofia Gawer-Fische was born in Buenos Aries, Argentina, where she graduated from the National School of Fine Art. She earned degrees in printing, sculpture and drawing. The artist has completed several public art commissions, including Ocean City's Beach Birds, D.C.'s Party Animals and New York City's DOGNY, and original sculptures for the Gala Hispanic Theatre. Gawer-Fische lives in Washington, D.C.
