Escherie View from Northwest Branch
by Sam Dixon & Helen Dixon McKnight
Helen McKnight and Sam Dixon are mother and son. McKnight credits her granddaughter's antics as inspiration for the vibrant color and bold style of her own work in needlepoint. Dixon cites the painter Whistler as an influence on his own gestural, abstract paintings, primarily in watercolor. Both moved from New York City to Maryland to continue their artistic endeavors. Dixon is represented by galleries in Annapolis and has paintings in many private collections here and abroad. McKnight resides in Lanham and Dixon in Silver Spring, where he works as a graphic designer.
