Volunteer OpportunitiesWant to give back? Volunteer! Opportunities to volunteer with The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission's Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation are almost unlimited. Help out at a one-day special event or assist on an ongoing basis. Students can even earn student service learning hours by volunteering with our organization. First time here? Volunteering is easy! First, indicate whether you are an individual or group. - You'll be taken to a list of categories and available volunteer opportunities. Select an opportunity of interest.
- Register for the volunteer opportunity by following the instructions on the screen.
- Then, complete a volunteer application by filling in the information requested on your computer screen. Answer all of the questions and provide all of the information requested. This won't take long.
- When you're finished, click 'Save'. Your information has been submitted for review.
- Record your User ID and password in a safe place. You will need it to return to the site to search for new opportunities, to record the number of hours you volunteered and to update your profile.
- The volunteer coordinator will review your volunteer application and then contact you to provide information on training, to schedule an interview, and, where required by Department policy, to make an appointment for fingerprinting. For most volunteer opportunities, individuals 15 years old and up must undergo a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, before volunteer service can begin.
