- All Northern Area Trips depart from and return to: College Park Airport, 1909 Corporal Frank Scott Drive, College Park, Maryland
- All trips are self-sustaining, therefore, refunds for all trips will be made only if your place can be filled or the trip is cancelled. Medical reasons cannot be used for refunds unless your spot can be filled.
- Due to the full tour itinerary, stamina, independence and self-care are necessary. Participant must be able to maintain group pace.
- Trips depend on sufficient registration; specific registration deadlines may apply.
- Registration for the fall Trips & Excursions begins Monday, August 12 for residents; Monday, August 19 for all others.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5 & SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6 Rocky Gap Casino Resort and West Virginia Festival

Come with us on this wonderful tour as we spend one night at the Rocky Gap Casino Resort near Cumberland, Maryland. Enjoy overnight accommodations at a non-smoking facility, a lovely Sunday brunch and fun at the newest casino in Maryland. The real adventure begins with the Autumn Mountain State of West Virginia’s Forest Festival Parade and activities in Elkins, WV. You’ll watch the largest parade in the state from reserved seating. The 2-mile parade features over a dozen marching bands, floats, special units such as the Toronto Police Winged Wheels of Canada and more. Dinner in the evening will be at Deep Creek Lake with great views before our trip to Rocky Gap. Tour includes: one night accommodations, one breakfast, one Sunday brunch, one reserved parade seat, one dinner, all taxes and gratuities and any guide service at the parade and great mountain views. $12 per person motor coach driver gratuity required. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11 Proud Mary Showboat Fall Dinner Cruise, PA
DEPARTS: 6:30 AM; RETURNS 7:30 PM
Join us for a great fall excursion to Pennsylvania! Enjoy seeing fall foliage and an early buffet dinner cruise aboard the “Proud Mary Showboat” on Lake Raystown. Enjoy turn-of-the-century hospitality and breathtaking vistas, making this cruise a memorable adventure on a climate-controlled boat with restrooms. First stop will be for breakfast (included) at the Cracker Barrel in Hagerstown, Maryland. Then, we’re off to our first tour stop at the Rockhill Trolley Museum. Take a step back in time to when many American towns and cities offered inexpensive transportation using electric trolleys. You’ll enjoy a leisurely ride on a trolley through the scenic countryside before your autumn cruise. Don’t miss this fun autumn adventure in Pennsylvania.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2 Thanksgiving in the Country House Tour, NJ
DEPARTS: 7 AM; RETURNS 10 PM
Travel with us to Sergeantsville, New Jersey for a unique tour of privately, owned residences nestled in a region of elegantly restored colonial homes, quaint shops and working farms. Some date from the 18th and 19th centuries; some are newer with lovely additions. We’ll travel on Sergeantsville buses with tour guides pointing out spots of interest along the way. A homemade lunch is included at the Methodist Church serving your soup of choice, a turkey sandwich with a famous cranberry chutney secret recipe, and choice of dessert. Later, enjoy a thank you tea with homemade cookies and a craft show at the historic Prallsville Mill. Dinner is included on the way home at an area restaurant with delicious entrées and desserts. Please wear comfortable shoes; no high heels permitted.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23 Lancaster, Pennsylvania Countryside Tour and Show
DEPARTS: 6 AM; RETURNS 8:30 PM
Join us for a fun day on your custom tour in the Amish Countryside of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. First stop is for breakfast at the Hershey Farm Smorgasbord Restaurant for all your favorite breakfast foods. Next, enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride, on a 3-mile journey through historic Amish farm country. Before the afternoon show, we’ll stop at the Strasburg Country Store and Creamery offering a bounty of sweet confections that are reminiscent of a bygone era and for a tasty treat of ice cream (included). This pure, homemade ice cream is voted “The Best in Lancaster.” Our two-and-a-half hour show, before our farm fresh dinner at the Bird-In-Hand Dinner Smorgasbord, is a live musical called “Half-Stitched.” This show is a delightful journey of self-discovery, healing and renewed wholeness involving an Amish Quilting Club pulled from Wanda Brunstetter’s latest New York Times best seller. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8 Annapolis Holly Trolley Tour and More!
DEPARTS: 3 PM; RETURNS 8:30 PM
First stop on this fun tour is just across the Bay Bridge to have an early dinner at an all-time favorite restaurant “The Narrows.” Enjoy the best crab cakes and other great entrée selections such as filet mignon and braised pork shank and a selection of delicious desserts including old-fashion hot fudge sundaes. After a wonderful dinner, we’ll head to Annapolis where we’ll board the “Holly Trolley.” On this 60-minute tour around historic Annapolis we’ll see city lights and the lights on the bay at Sandy Point. This year the light display added the Naval Academy midshipmen tossing their hats in the air and also a lighted replica of a colonial village. Come and enjoy the food, the “Holly Trolley” and a spirit of holiday fun!

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14 Kennedy Center: National Symphony Pops Orchestra: “Happy Holidays”
DEPARTS: 12 NOON; RETURNS 7:30 PM
Join us for a matinee performance of the NSO Pops Orchestra featuring the “singularly thunderous baritone,” Tony Award winner and Kennedy Center favorite, Brian Stokes Mitchell (Sweeney Todd). Get into the spirit of the season with an afternoon of joyful song led by the versatile Stokes, who’s equally at home singing and dancing in blockbuster musicals. Enjoy the music and festivities of the holidays and then, enjoy a fabulous dinner at Artie’s Restaurant serving favorites such as bone-in prime rib, filet mignon, fresh fish, grilled ribs, delicious chicken and great desserts such as hot fudge sundaes with house-made ice cream and old fashioned banana pudding with caramel and chocolate. Come with us to bring on the cheer for the holidays.

SATURDAY, MARCH 22, 2014 Sight & Sound Theater, Pennsylvania: “Moses”
DEPARTS: 8:30 AM; RETURNS 8:30 PM
Register early for “Moses,” the newest show and musical at the Sight & Sound Theatre in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Be prepared to see on stage the parting of the Red Sea, the Burning Bush, the Plagues, the Ten Commandments and finally the greatest Biblical epic of the Old Testament come to life. Lunch is more like dinner that’s included at Shady Maple. If you love to eat, you’ll love the 200-foot buffet, the open grill for made-to-order requests from meat to seafood, along with other great selections such as prime rib, a variety of seafood and great desserts and salads. Some time will be given to browse the large gift shop on the premises. Don’t miss this day of joy and inspiration.
