Named for Prince George's County's very own Olympic and professional boxing legend, the Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing Center is a co-ed facility offering amateur and professional training as well as boxing shows. The center has produced two Olympic champions - Sugar Ray Leonard, the 1976 welterweight champion, and Andrew Maynard, the 1988 light heavyweight champion. Another famous Prince Georgian, comedian/actor Martin Lawrence, also trained at the boxing center.

Location/Directions

Located in Palmer Park, Maryland, inside the Capital Beltway (I-495) off Route 202. From Cheverly, take Route 202 (Landover Road). Make a right at the signal for Barlowe Road. The Boxing Center is located in the strip shopping center on the left.

From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Exit 17B Route 202 (Landover Road) west toward Bladensburg. At the second light, make a left on Barlowe Road. Continue two blocks to Boxing Center on the left in shopping center.
