Camping and Picnics
In 2015, there will be many changes to the Camping and Pavilion Rentals. We advise that you read the new information on fees and amenities carefully. If you have any questions, please call the park office at 301-627-6074.
The park offers primitive tent camping for groups, no RV's or tent trailers. There are four sites in the group camp area and two sites near the river (Canoe Camp & Selby's Camp) and four sites along the Patuxent Water Trail. The group camp area, canoe camp and Selby's camp sites are open year round. Indoor, accessible restroom facilities are located near the barn. The area also has a pavilion that is shared by all campers. The barn is available for use during inclement weather unless there is a Day Use Rental scheduled.
Each site has three picnic tables and a fire ring. Some firewood is provided. Drinking water is available from the well house, which also has a locked storage room containing barbeque grills, an emergency telephone, softball equipment, volleyball and horseshoes. A volleyball net, basketball hoop and horseshoe pits are in place. The pavilion is shared with all the campsites and may be unavailable from 9am-5pm if there is a Day Use Rental.
The Canoe Camp and Selby's Camp sites are available for groups of 25 or fewer. There is no drinking water on site. Water may be obtained at the well house located in the group camp area.There are two portable toilets on site. Canoes and kayaks can be launched from a floating pier. You may bring your own canoes/kayaks or rent them from the park. Canoe camp is only accessible by water during the mid to high tide.
The Patuxent Water Trail Sites are paddle in only and are located at Iron Pot Landing (Mile 45), White Oak Landing (Mile 39), Spice Creek (Mile 35), and Milltown Landing (Mile 30). These sites are limited to small paddle groups of twenty (20) or less people.

All picnics are by reservation and payment is due at that time. A combination lock is used to secure all entrance gates. The combination is issued at the time the reservation is made. Fees are based on group size.
CANCELLATION POLICY: The licensee to whom this permit is issued is responsible for notifying the park two (2) days prior tot he event in order to receive a refund. A 20% administrative fee will be accessed on all cancellations. In case of bad weather, the licensee must notify the park to receive a 100% refund. The Commission reserves the right to cancel all permits with as much notice as practicable; a 100% refund policy will be in effect.
