Snow Hill Manor Snow Hill Manor is a 2½-story brick plantation house of late Georgian style located on 15 acres of land in Laurel, Maryland. Situated on a knoll overlooking the Patuxent River, the home was built in 1755 alongside a main road connecting it to the highway leading to Philadelphia and New York.

One of many homes in the Laurel area formerly owned by the distinguished Snowden family, Snow Hill Manor has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. The house features four rooms on each floor including a modern caterers' kitchen and brides' and grooms' dressing rooms. The house features wood floors and period-style furnishings.

This historic property may be rented by the public for meetings, receptions, weddings and other functions. Also available is a 30' x 60', tented brick patio that is available for outdoor events from April to November.

History

Built for Samuel Snowden in 1755 on 500 acres that he received as a wedding gift from his father, Snow Hill Manor was destroyed by fire in 1764. It was rebuilt in 1798 using brick salvaged from the original house.

While the exterior brick bond is laid in Flemish bond, the interior of the house features fine, Federal-style trim and possesses some unusual architectural features, such as the unique keystone arched openings over the corner cupboards. Some believe the inscription "GW 1786" found on the house's façade may have been engraved to commemorate a visit made by President George Washington or his wife, Martha.

In 1940, Dr. Bryan Warren bought Snow Hill to raise cattle for livestock yards in Baltimore. He later became a distinguished physician, known for his devotion and service to the community.

In June 1992, the site was purchased by The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission for use as a rental facility for public and private functions.
