Newton White Mansion2708 Enterprise Road, Mitchellville, MD 20721 HistoryIn 1939, Captain and Mrs. Newton H. White purchased land in Prince George's County with the intention of creating a model dairy farm. The farm proved to be very lucrative and the couple commissioned architect W.E. Bottomly to build a mansion on the property. During his distinguished naval career, Captain White served on the U.S.S. Yorktown and the U.S.S. Lexington.He named the two-story brick Neo-Georgian style home and the surrounding 586 acre tract Enterprise Estate, after the U.S.S. Enterprise, the ship he commanded prior to World War II. Today the mansion is surrounded by Enterprise Golf Course and consists of six large rooms, a contemporary glass-enclosed atrium, two upstairs dressing rooms, and an outdoor brick patio with a central waterfall fountain.

Travel approximately 1/4 mile and turn left onto Lottsford Road. Go approximately 1 1/2 miles and turn left at the traffic light onto Enterprise Road (Route 193). Go about 1/2 mile and turn left into the entrance to the property, which is marked by a sign that reads "Enterprise - Newton White Mansion - Enterprise Golf Course".From Washington, D.C., take Route 50 East to Martin Luther King, Jr. Highway, (Exit 704 N). Road turns into Route 450 East. Go approximately 1 1/2 miles and turn right at the traffic light onto Enterprise Road (193 East). The Mansion is approximately 3 miles on your right. There is a sign at the property entrance that reads "Enterprise - Newton White Mansion - Enterprise Golf Course". From Annapolis, follow Route 50 West and take the exit for Route 301 South towards Richmond. Travel approximately 4 miles and take the Central Avenue exit (Route 214 West) towards Washington, DC. Travel approximately 2 1/2 miles and turn right onto Enterprise Road (Route 193 West). The mansion is approximately 2 1/2 miles on your left. There is a sign at the property entrance that reads "Enterprise - Newton White Mansion - Enterprise Golf Course". From Baltimore, follow the Baltimore-Washington Parkway towards Washington, DC. Take the 193 East Greenbelt Exit. Stay on 193 East for approximately 7 miles. The Mansion will be on your right at the sign that reads "Enterprise - Newton White Mansion - Enterprise Golf Course". From Baltimore area (alternative route), take Route 3 South which will turn into Route 301 in Bowie. Follow 301 South until you reach the Central Avenue Exit (Route 214 West). Take it towards Washington, DC. Travel approximately 2 1/2 miles and turn right at the traffic light onto Enterprise Road (Route 193 West). The Mansion is approximately 2 1/2 miles on your left at the sign that reads "Enterprise - Newton White Mansion - Enterprise Golf Course". Note: Park in the lot on your left after you pass the stop sign.
