Education and Outreach Programs

These FREE education and outreach programs listed below are available to all Prince George's County Schools and community centers by request. Call the Park Ranger Office at 301-627-7755 for information regarding programs.

Nature 101

A one-hour presentation on wildlife, plants, and other nature related information. Grades 1 to 8

Bike Rodeo/Bike Safety

Consists of a skills course, safety discussion, bike and helmet check, safety video, and a bike safety course. Participants must bring their own working bikes and proper fitting helmets. Age 6 to 12

Ranger "Jeopardy"

Join the Park Rangers in their version of the game show "Jeopardy." Safety is the subject and categories include bike safety, mammals, bites and stings, recycling, animal babies and more! Grades 2 to 6

Career Day

Park Rangers discuss job duties and answer questions on Park Ranger-related career paths. Grades 2 to 12

Safety Baseball

Park Rangers teach students Safety 101 through a 45-minute, interactive game. Grades 1 to 4

Youth Garden Initiative

This program teaches young people about gardening and growing food. They also learn about teamwork, health and nutrition, the food system, the environment and community building through gardening.

Insect Investigation

A 45-minute, trivia game about the fascinating things about insects. Teams of students will answer trivia, play charades and illustrate objects in order to win the game. Grades 4-6

Team Building

This program is designed to foster the development of important life skills such as communication, respect, patience, trust, fair play and many more. Participants are presented with challenges and activities that require team work to achieve a goal.
