Peppermill Community Center Renovation

Update

The Peppermill Community Center renovation is complete and the center is now open to the public! Check out the photos from the re-opening ceremony held May 31, 2019.

Project Description

The original 1969 10,000 square-foot Peppermill Community Center was completely demolished and replaced with a new 15,000 square-foot environmentally-friendly LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Level Rated building. The center, located in Capital Heights, MD, offers Prince George’s County residents a new indoor gymnasium, fitness room, multi-purpose rooms, full kitchen and pantry, a newly irrigated outdoor athletic field, playground, and outdoor patios. The outdoor basketball and tennis courts were also repaved during construction.
With the need for more flexible meeting spaces, the Department of Parks and Recreation worked with the community to design spaces that are versatile and can serve various numbers of people and events. The gym can be converted into an event space that accommodates 200 people, and the multi-purpose rooms are designed with folding partition walls that can be used to separate programs.
